Instructions regarding the use of the media collection
To make searches in our media collection as easy as possible, we are using our own database for this purpose.

The media is sorted by category and may be searched by keywords.

Here a few instructions regarding the use of the database:

Select the type of lesson

By selecting the type of lesson, you are able to restrict your search to a specific type of media.

Key of Abbreviations:
DE = German only
EN/DE S = English with German simultaneous interpreting
EN/DE U = English with German subtitles
EN = English only
DE/EN S = German with English simultaneous interpreting
DE/EN U = German with English subtitles

Free search

The big advantage of this database is its complete searchability. You may enter complete words or just partial words and search for them. After clicking on the magnifying glass the system will show you all links found and the words / partial words found will be highlighted in color.

Note:
The search engine ignores capitalization. Any keyword must consist of a minimum of two characters. Fragments consisting of only a single character will be ignored.

Example:
Enter anxiety and click on the magnifying glass: At once all hits containing 'anxiety' will be highlighted in color.

Extended free search

As soon as you enter more than one single keyword, the type of search becomes important.

OR-Search: The system will find all occurrences, that contain at least one of the keywords. The OR-Search normally yields the greatest number of hits.

For example:
You search for lessons about Belladonna or respiratory organs: Enter bella respir as keywords and select the OR-Search and then click on the magnifying glass. All relevant occurrences will be immediately displayed.

AND-Search: The system will find only those occurences, that contain all the keywords. The order in which you entered the keywords does not matter. An additional minus sign (-) in front of a keyword excludes all hits that contain this keyword. The AND-Search will yield less hits than the OR-search.

For example:
You search for information about fear of heights and phobias. Enter height phobia as keywords, select the AND-search and then click on the magnifying glass. All relevant occurrences will be immediately displayed.

ACCURATE-Search: The system will find only such occurences, that contain the exact phrase you entered. In this case the order in which you entered the keywords is significant. The ACCURATE-Search usually yields the lowest number of hits.

For example:
You search for information about chronic migraine. Enter chronic migraine as keywords, select the ACCURATE-Search and then click on the magnifying glass. All relevant occurrences will be immediately displayed.

Search in:

Additionally you may restrict your search to the description or to the name of a lesson. Just deactivate the check box you do not want to be searched by clicking on it, then enter the keyword and click on the magnifying glass.
